Robur commits to the Seaqual Initiative range

The Robur brand presents a new range of eco-responsible products made from plastics recovered from the oceans. Let's see which models are involved and how they can help us act for environmental protection.

An eco-responsible approach

The Made In Blue "Seaqual Initiative" collection results from an eco-responsible approach by the manufacturer. With an established reputation in the restaurant industry, Robur decided to transform plastic bottles into quality garments for professionals. To preserve our oceans polluted by marine waste, the brand embarked on a collection and recycling initiative to create garments from fibers containing marine plastic (or "seaqual yarn") that is 100% recycled. These eco-responsible products are the result of the Seaqual initiative that contributes to cleaning our oceans of marine debris. To achieve this, Robur obtained support from NGOs, fishermen, and local authorities who understood that the environmental impact was far from negligible.

Environmental consequences:

  • Impact on ecosystem toxicity reduced by 97.4%
  • Water requirement reduced by 69.2%, saving 3,580 L of water per Seaqual item
  • 39.45% less phosphate release into water

Compared to standard cotton/PES, the Seaqual approach therefore offers 3 important advantages. It reduces aquatic ecotoxicity related to the use of manufactured chemicals. It decreases water requirements for each type of garment made from recycled fibers. Finally, it helps combat the release of chemicals into water that contribute to global warming and algae proliferation in the oceans.

Long or short sleeve jackets

Eleven plastic bottles were needed to create the Escale jacket, and 9 for the Dunes jacket. Available in long-sleeve or short-sleeve versions, these kitchen jackets are both elegant and practical. Available in several colors, they feature an officer collar, hidden snap buttons, and a piped chest pocket with contrasting trim. The long-sleeve models have contrasting cuff details. The Escale jacket is designed for women, while the Dunes jacket is a unisex model.

"Made In Blue" Pants

In terms of pants as well, Robur offers an eco-responsible model entirely dedicated to female professionals. This is the women's kitchen pants Ecume, available in black or ocean blue. It stands out with its slim cut, two Italian pockets, and a back slit pocket. Unisex, the Detroit pants are equipped with a piped back pocket and two front Italian pockets. Both models feature a belt with loops and satin horn-effect buttons.

Accessories: caps and aprons

Recycled marine plastics also enabled the brand to manufacture several accessories from the Seaqual range. Available in black, green or blue, the Dorie cap is an adjustable six-panel model with several cork elements: the visor, the top button, and the front patch. Finally, the Dax apron is available in the same color range. This bib apron features a compartmentalized pen pocket, a lower pocket on the left side, and an adjustable fabric neck strap with snap buttons.
