What is the PMD?

The PMD or Military Discovery Preparation is, as its name suggests, a period of discovery of the military environment. It is open to everyone and will allow you to experience for a few days the daily life of a soldier in the army through all its activities. Registration for this preparation is obviously based on volunteering. This immersion period will allow you to have an excellent first approach, in order to test your motivation to pursue a career or not in the army.

How does the PMD work?

Over a period of 3 to 10 days, the military discovery preparation allows you to live in total immersion within a regiment or other military unit. You will then participate in military activities and sports such as obstacle courses, marching, shooting, as well as information about different professional paths within the army.

The key words for a PMD are: discipline and rigor. Even though this preparation is considered a discovery period, it is still quality instruction designed to make those immersed love the military profession. Generally speaking, the PMD bears fruit since on average, 80% of participants in this period then join the institution. Moreover, following this immersive period, a rating as well as an assessment will be attributed to your performance. These can be a major asset if you subsequently wish to join the military corps.

During this period, transportation costs, accommodation, food, and clothing are covered. If you would like to obtain more information, contact the CIRFA (Armed Forces Information and Recruitment Center) closest to you.
