Entering Police or Gendarmerie school

The National Police and the Gendarmerie are recruiting. This is an interesting opportunity for those who wish to practice an active profession and want to commit themselves to serving others. Indeed, law enforcement acts every day to ensure everyone's safety and common well-being. Those who feel ready for this vocation can freely apply for one of the competitive exams… under certain conditions: be of French nationality, be within the age limit (for example 35 years old for Police Officer or Gendarmerie Non-commissioned Officer), be recognized as physically fit, and hold the required diplomas according to rank (Baccalaureate for Peace Officer, Master's degree for Police Commissioner…).

Summary:

Becoming a police officer

Young candidates who have passed the Police or Gendarmerie competitive exams must follow specific training. Thus, the National Police welcomes its new recruits in different NPSs (National Police School) or PTCs (Police Training Centers). Future police officers receive one year of education there to acquire the institution's values and quickly become operational in the field. The training alternates between courses, sports practice and internships in police services. At school, future police officers are accommodated in boarding facilities and regularly attend flag raising ceremonies. While some supplies are distributed by the institution, students must find certain equipment themselves, such as a backpack, or shoes

Training of gendarmes

The gendarmerie schools are responsible for training the winners of the Gendarmerie entrance exams. These institutions divide the different teachings: 12-month initial training for student gendarmes, 13-week initial training for volunteer assistant gendarmes and judicial police agents, 6-week initial training for special positions… These learning weeks allow young people to familiarize themselves with their status as military personnel. They are grouped within a class, called Training Company, which bears the name of a gendarme who died in the line of duty. Future gendarmes receive equipment when they enter school, which they must complete (shoesaccessories for example). Vet Sécurité offers all the product ranges necessary for these future gendarmes and police officers.
