Gendarmes, wearing thigh holsters for service pistols

Since July 27, 2016, the date of the "EXPRESS NOTE" from the DGGN, wearing the weapon on the thigh is authorized for all military personnel of the Gendarmerie, subject to meeting certain conditions.

Military personnel of the Gendarmerie on duty and in uniform are equipped, for carrying the SIG SAUER 2022 pistol, with a regulation secure holster adapted to their operational environment.

However, for various reasons, some military personnel may request to use thigh holsters to facilitate weapon extraction.

The "EXPRESS NOTE" of July 27, 2016, therefore establishes the wearing procedures and rules of use for the regulation holster equipped on a thigh drop.

Reminders:

Previously limited to equipped personnel (motorcycle units, BMO...), then extended to military personnel serving in surveillance and intervention squads or intervention squads, wearing thigh holsters is now authorized for all Gendarmerie military personnel, subject to meeting the conditions.

Wearing on the thigh does not result in any modification to shooting technique, however the Gendarmerie military personnel who wishes to acquire this device must perform, during shooting sessions, a response shooting of at least 5 cartridges with their equipment, in order to be authorized to use their thigh holster.

Participation in a live-fire response shooting session with a thigh holster, as well as validation of this session by the instructor, constitutes authorization for wearing by the command.

For this purpose, thigh drop devices or thigh plates will be considered as regulation equipment with non-mandatory wearing, which can be acquired individually, on which each person can place the regulation holster received as standard issue.
