The Armed Forces General Staff has just announced in an article dated May 12, 2022 that a new multi-environment camouflage (BME) will replace the current polychrome camouflage in use in the French armed forces: the CE camo and the desert camo.

Developed since March 2016, this new camouflage was designed by the Army Technical Section (STAT) and developed by the Armed Forces Commissariat Service (CIEC) in collaboration with a French company: Tissus d'Avesnières of Laval in the Mayenne department. The creation of a snow zone camouflage is also planned for armed troops operating in the mountains.
The multi-environment camouflage is composed of six colors (including "French Earth brown") in mixed broken shapes with slightly pixelated contours. These colors are slightly softened by a gradient of white and branch patterns. This new BME camouflage is adapted to all environments: urban, mountain, desert, forest, ...etc. This new camouflage brings a real logistical added value for the French army since now, a soldier can make do with a single type of fatigues for all his external operations.
Among the main reasons put forward by the Armed Forces General Staff for this camouflage change, we find:
An increase in stealth for the combatant with an estimated additional 25% gain in detection delay;
A need for renewal of the visual identity of the French armed forces;
A search for rationalization and logistical efficiency.

The BME combat uniform with this new multi-environment camouflage will be distributed starting in 2024 at the same time as the generalization of the F3 fatigues. The two previous camouflages, associated for decades with the Central European design, are therefore destined to disappear. We have a wide range of military camo products available here in our store.
