Which safety shoe to choose?

Depending on your field of activity, certain essential standards will be required to mitigate all risks of injury. It is therefore important to understand what they represent:

Safety shoe vs work shoe: what are the differences?

  • A safety shoe is regulated by the EN 20345 standard and differs mainly from the work shoe by the presence of a protective toe cap, which can be made of metal or ceramic.

  • The work shoe is governed by the EN 20347 standard and has at least a non-slip sole.

  • In addition to work and safety shoes, you can opt for standardized overshoes with or without a protective toe cap.

What is the Anti-slip standard?

    • The SRA class certifies the grip of the shoe on ceramic floors.

    • The SRB class designates shoes resistant to slipping on steel floors.

    • The SRC class incorporates the characteristics of the previous classes: SRA and SRB.

Choosing safety shoes adapted to your needs

It is essential to select safety shoes that perfectly meet the requirements of your profession and work environment. Whether these safety shoes are low or high-top, here are some fundamental criteria to consider when making your choice:

  • Anti-puncture sole:

Make sure your shoes are equipped with an anti-puncture sole to protect you against sharp objects and abrasive materials present on construction sites.

  • Standard:

Verify that your shoes comply with current safety standards, such as EN 20345 for safety shoes and EN 20347 for work shoes.

  • Sole:

Choose shoes with a sole adapted to your field of activity, whether it's non-slip for wet environments or has a cleated sole for rough terrain.

  • Fit:

Choose shoes offering a comfortable fit and good support to avoid injuries and discomfort during long working hours.

  • Water-repellent upper:

For additional protection against moisture and weather, favor shoes with a water-repellent upper. These waterproof shoes will guarantee you increased comfort during your working days.

  • Protection:

Make sure your shoes offer adequate protection at the ankle, toes and heel to reduce the risk of injury.

The different models available on the market

Whether you are a professional in construction, industry, healthcare or catering, there is a multitude of safety shoe models adapted to each profession:

  • S3 shoes:

Ideal for outdoor work, S3 shoes offer optimal protection against water and solid particles while ensuring maximum comfort.

  • S1P shoes:

Perfect for dry environments, S1P shoes are equipped with an antistatic and anti-puncture sole to ensure your safety.

  • Safety sneakers:

Combining style and protection, safety sneakers are ideal for urban workers looking for comfort and safety in their daily lives.

  • High-top shoes:

Offering better ankle support, high-top shoes are recommended for professions exposed to risks of twisting and falls.

Regardless of your field of activity, it is essential to choose safety shoes that combine comfort, durability and resistance to ensure your well-being and safety at work. Of course, let yourself be tempted by shoes with a design that suits you best while taking care to choose the right size. Know that suitable safety shoes will allow you to feel as comfortable in them as in your street shoes.
