The cheche is a kind of veil that can measure between 4 and 8 meters long that Tuareg men, a Berber people, wrap around their heads to protect themselves from the sun and dry wind, so specific to the desert.

The original shemagh is a cotton scarf adorned with red and white checkered patterns held by a double wire hoop. It is traditionally worn in Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and by nomads as well.
