The history of Rite in the Rain began nearly a century ago in the forests of the Great Northwest. The entrepreneur, Jerry Darling, recognized the forestry industry's need for a durable material on which one could write and that could survive in bad weather conditions. Jerry developed a special coating that creates a unique moisture barrier on hand-dipped sheets of paper that he and his wife, Mary, processed at home.
The first all-weather notebook was born! Over many years, they perfected and patented their environmentally friendly coating process. Still located in Tacoma, their mission continues and they provide innovative products to professionals and enthusiasts who brave the outdoors.
