Less known than the firefighter profession, but well present on the territory, the fire safety officer works mainly in structures or buildings that receive the public such as hospitals, state institutions (...). Their main mission? Prevention and monitoring of fire risks.
Summary:

What are the daily missions of the security officer? To prevent risks related to fire and ensure that it can be controlled quickly and under the best possible safety conditions in case of outbreak.
For this, he must ensure every day that the alarm systems work perfectly well and that the "first equipment" for fighting fire, such as extinguishers, are in good condition to be used and properly accessible. First assimilating the fire risks of the building he monitors, the fire safety officer must secondly make regular rounds but also raise awareness among people working in the building or structure about these risks. He must be able to "trigger the alarm and give the alert" at any time, then prevent and even guide rescue teams such as firefighters dispatched on site and help secure and then evacuate the premises.

To be able to be very responsive, one of the first qualities required for a fire safety officer, you also need to be very well equipped! Thus, it is obviously essential to wear complete equipment consisting of a polo shirt or t-shirt (and a jacket if needed) in red color stamped with the fire safety mention, fire safety pants in black or navy color, equipped with retro-reflective strips on the calves and combat boots made of soft leather.
In terms of accessories, the fire safety officer will be equipped at minimum with a badge holder, intervention gloves with knuckle protection as needed (+ glove holder), and a pocket flashlight designed for use in extreme conditions.
