The Network Protection and Security Group (GPSR) corresponds to the RATP security group created on November 1, 1994.
Its mission is surveillance, protection of pedestrians and personnel throughout the networks managed by the company. Agents are sworn officers and holders of authorization to carry category B weapons (handguns, electric shock weapons and tear gas) and category D weapons (weapons with free acquisition and possession) approved by the public prosecutor.
They have the power to record and issue fines for violations. Their presence helps reassure and provide a sense of security to passengers. They work externally with many partners such as firefighters and the gendarmerie. They are equipped with XDM-9 pistols and have holsters from the Radar brand.

They contribute to passenger security through their presence, their response speed and their adaptability while remaining vigilant in case of incidents. They fight fraud by patrolling in front of gates and ensure security through their presence and rounds in the sector to which they are assigned. They are qualified to answer user questions or inform them of recent incidents that may have occurred in their surveillance areas.

To join the GPSR, you must go through a training center to follow a 15-week alternating theoretical and practical training to acquire professional qualification. You must also:
- Be at least 21 years old and hold a B driving license.
- Be in a position to obtain a weapon carrying permit and sworn officer status.
- Good physical condition.
- Good visual acuity
- A clean criminal record
- A sense of dialogue, argumentation and persuasive power
- Self-control and self-assertion
- Best practices for managing conflict situations
- The ability to analyze and step back from a situation
- The ability to anticipate
- A taste for teamwork
A sports test is also included in the training to evaluate physical condition :
- Perform 5 pull-ups for women - 10 for men
- Cover 100 meters in less than 17"30 for women - 14"33 for men
- Perform a shot put throw to a minimum of 5m56 for women - 6m02 for men
- Cover 3000 meters in less than 16'43 for women – 12'54 for men (elimination test).
