During your airsoft games, BBs are an essential element. Indeed, without them, you simply cannot play. They exist in different materials, weights and colors. Generally, they are made of plastic, with a 6 mm diameter size for a weight ranging from 0.12 to 0.40 g. During certain airsoft games, the use of BBs is regulated.
To avoid risks related to wear of your replica or a negative impact on the quality of your shot, the use of quality BBs is strongly recommended.
Summary:

To practice airsoft, several types of BBs exist:
- Eco-friendly BBs, which are biodegradable. This type of projectile is healthier for nature;
- Tracer BBs, are used for nighttime games. They allow you to see your BB leave the barrel thanks to their fluorescent capacity. They also exist in eco-friendly material;
- Non-tracer BBs, dark colored, they will allow you to keep your position secret;
- Metal BBs usable for target shooting;
In general, eco-friendly type BBs are mainly recommended for healthier practice. A weight ranging from 0.2 to 0.25 g is ideal, heavier BBs, usable for snipers, are often prohibited. Indeed, beyond this weight, these ammunition can cause injury.
To optimize your accuracy/range ratio, it is essential to choose a weight that corresponds to your replica. As stated previously, BBs between 0.2 and 0.25 g are ideal. Generally, 0.2 g ammunition is used by pistol-type replicas. For AEG replicas, BBs above 0.2 g are recommended. Some replicas have an indication on the ideal weight to use, which will allow you to choose them accordingly.
Attention, if your weight does not correspond to the game restrictions, you will have to change your ammunition or you will not be able to participate.
To remember, if your BB is damaged, has an imperfection or dirt, it is strongly recommended not to use it to avoid damaging your replica from the inside. The weight of the BB will have no effect on your replica as long as its diameter is 6 mm, it only impacts range and accuracy.

Whatever type of BBs chosen, we must not forget that a BB at short distance can injure, sometimes even seriously. Masks or protective glasses are normally mandatory regardless of the airsoft game you participate in. A BB received in the eyes can have serious consequences sometimes even up to loss of sight. This is why a mask that covers the entire face and ears is perfect to ensure a game without problems.
In Airsoft games where you find yourself in a CQB situation, full auto is not authorized to reduce risks. Close range shots are limited as much as possible by players. When you are too close to your opponent, you pretend to shoot to ensure common protection.
