MilSim, short for Military Simulation, is a form of training used by certain police and military forces as preparation for future operations. It has its origins in ancient Greek civilizations, at a time when children of the royal guard trained to imitate soldiers in a form of game they called Militum Simulatio.
The term MilSim is also used to perform the reproduction of war films or tactical exercises during matches of paintball or MilSim airsoft .
It is a practice that consists of reproducing a historical situation, military operations or fictional setups. It uses techniques, methods and distinct protocols that allow players to learn new ways to practice airsoft. MilSim requires each operator to play in the proper functioning of "roleplay" for better immersion and better progression of the scenario.
Consequently, all types of fictitious injuries, all actions or interactions must be simulated and played, in strict compliance with the rules of engagement to ensure the safety and gaming pleasure of all.
MilSim requires a large number of participants and needs time, physical effort and financial resources to be set up.
Summary:

In MilSim, the priority is to get as close as possible to the course of a real conflict: prisoner extraction, base capture, transmission of secret codes, elimination of a group of enemies.
Games can be very long. As a general rule, an airsoft game does not exceed a few hours. This is far from the case in MilSim where it is not uncommon to spend 12 to 24 hours, with boots well stuck in the mud. These games can mobilize up to several dozen players, taking place over an entire weekend.
The replica must be adapted to the context of the game and the use of a GBBR (Gas Blowback Rifle) type replica is preferable for an increased realistic sensation thanks to the recoil system. You also need to plan for additional equipment such as spare magazines and batteries depending on the duration of your game.
Combat uniforms must also be adapted to the context of the game. It is therefore interesting to take equipment that can be used regardless of the situation you may face, such as uniforms and MultiCam bags usable in many situations.

Reenactment is a practice that consists of recreating major historical battles. Participants push realism to the smallest details, in terms of uniforms and chosen replicas.
In this way of practicing airsoft as in MilSim, we can see that players seek to reproduce a certain reality. They are not in the game per se, but more in the reproduction.
In MilSim, it's the simulation and not the identical reproduction that is important. Players put themselves in the shoes of their characters and execute their own strategies. They are also freer in terms of outfits.
In Reenactment, it's about perfectly recreating a battle. Players don't develop their strategy. They will relive a piece of history.
