Airsoft Sniper Scope

The sight is one of the most important elements of your airsofter equipment. Its purpose is to increase the performance of your replica by improving precision. There are several types of sights. The sight intended for snipers is the most efficient. Indeed, it allows to perform long-range shots with the aim of making the difference and making your team win without being detected.

Summary:

Types of sights

To properly choose your sniper scope, you must first determine on what type of terrain you will be playing. This information is essential to know the necessary range of your sight. If the terrain in question has different reliefs, you can opt for an adjustable magnification scope that will allow you to adapt to all environments by modifying the zoom power according to the distance of your target. The advantage of adjustable sight scopes is that you can optimize your zoom power according to the situation and environment you are in.

You can also opt for a fixed magnification scope that will allow you to save time. Indeed, you won't need to make modifications according to the terrain, it will already be ready to use as soon as you change position. The advantage of fixed scopes is that you will quickly get used to your scope's power and thus judge the distance and precision of your shots.

Thanks to an airsoft scope, you maximize your chances of hitting a target at long distance. However, know that even with a quality scope, you won't become a sniper without training.

Reticles

The reticle allows, in an optical device, to perform more precise aiming by interposing in the clear visual field a simple or double crosshair of lines tracing a reference mark allowing alignments. For sniper reticles, they have graduations allowing long-range shots.

There are several types of reticles:

- Mil-Dot for long-range shots;

- Duplex Crosshair for instinctive shots;

- Modern Rangefinding for long-range shots with scale to know the distance between you and the target;

- Target Dot with a fine reticle ideal for precision shots.

The type of reticle chosen differs according to the user's choice and preferences.

Diameter and magnification

The diameter concerns the two lenses of the scope. For the exit lens, a small diameter value gives a compact and light scope, so it doesn't present extra weight for the replica. Choosing a small diameter assumes that the shooter is well trained to be able to succeed the shot. On the other hand, if the diameter is large, comfort will be better, but the scope risks being more bulky.

For the entrance lens, a large diameter means a brighter scope. Details will therefore be more precise when aiming, even in dark weather.

The diameter value is the second number inscribed on the scope. For example, 3 x 40 means a 40 mm diameter for the entrance lens.

For magnification, it can be fixed or variable.

For variable magnification: an inscription 3-9 x 40 means you can zoom the image 3 to 9 times, and the exit diameter is 40 mm. But be careful, the more you zoom, the more you reduce the field of vision.

For fixed magnification: an inscription 6x40 means you zoom 6 times, and the exit diameter is 40 mm.

Preparation

In order to use the full potential of your airsoft scope, it will be necessary to make some adjustments. The operation will be performed simply, in a few steps:

- Choose a clear shooting space, without wind, corresponding to the distance at which you want to adjust your replica

- Align the rifle with the target and secure it so that it doesn't move during your shots

- Center your scope's reticle on the heart of the target and fire 3 shots

- Go see your target, define the average of impacts that you will mark with a median point using a marker

- All you have to do is turn the turrets by clicks to make the center of the reticle coincide with your median point
