The hawk has been retained, as this is an evolution and not a complete change of the Air and Space Force. A curve is implemented to represent the Earth, the warrior spirit of the army is evoked with a bird that rears up to kill its prey.

  

Since September 11, 2020, aviators have been taking flight toward this new environment of increasingly connected discord that space has become. The Air and Space Force must ensure its defense and guarantee freedom of access and action, by having better knowledge and anticipating potential space threats. This objective takes place over the long term to compete with other countries. It is therefore a reorganization of aeronautical resources, which generates an increase in budget.

   

The only impact regarding this evolution occurs on the financial side, with military investments that have exceeded the 30 billion dollar mark in space.

 

By 2030, space will be populated with objects in orbit, which will cause risks of unintentional collisions.

Conflicts will generate new tensions and threats. However, the Air and Space Force will be equipped with additional defense strategies. In short, they should lead to detecting, characterizing and identifying dangers. They could also be shared with member states of the European Union in order to increase their effectiveness. The Army will remain faithful to navigation systems, telecommunications as well as satellite observation.

 

   

Within the entire space command, two units are responsible for the proper functioning of satellites as well as their protection:

• The CMOS*, monitors the reception of needs and all image processing operations. The DRM** has the role of controlling CMOS operations, it develops national priorities and distributes requests in collaboration with its foreign counterparts on the four types of satellites operated by France.

• The role of COSMOS*** is to ensure continuous surveillance of extra-atmospheric space. Its mission is to work on the autonomy and enhancement of military operations as well as the security of personnel.

   

   

The Air and Space Force ensures compliance with military space policy. It also ensures the strengthening of military uses, knowledge of space current events as well as its development. All these missions make it possible to ensure daily protection missions for French territory.

 

Four missions are implemented by the Air and Space Force:

 

Nuclear deterrence: The nuclear air-naval force handles nuclear deterrence as required by the President of the Republic.

External operations: The Air and Space Force continues to combat armed terrorist groups for Operation Barkhane and Chammal.

Protect our airspace and its surroundings: To strengthen protection against potential threats, to prevent attacks on civilian aircraft or aircraft in emergency situations.

Space: The Air and Space Force ensures that space operations are respected. It ensures the strengthening and protection of French territory.

 

 

To conclude, this evolution of the Air and Space Force will highlight the new technological advances put in place. Budget resources have increased to accomplish their missions, defend and protect our nation. Now, the air force will have more equipment at its disposal to detect, characterize, identify and neutralize potential threats that are harmful to France.
